Youth Ambassadors: Katie Still

KATIE STILL

A photo of Katie Still walking through a forest with her dog. They are walking away from the cameraHi, I’m Katie and I’ve always had a strong desire to get involved in conservation and animal protection.

Wild animals are such an important part of my identity, that love for the natural world seems to follow me wherever I go, in the books I read, what I watch on TV, the clothes I wear, the music I listen to, even in most of my schoolwork. I can’t really find the words to truly capture how animals make me feel, as love for them simply makes me, me.

I have delivered assemblies and talks in classrooms, to encourage my schoolmates to get involved with climate action, and to make better, more eco-friendly, choices. At my primary school, I also helped to create an eco-council, which creates bird and bat boxes, run litter picks and sets up nature areas for around the school site. It still exists today, even though I’m now at secondary school! I

Wildlife represents so much goodness and beauty, and we as humans have a lot to learn from the natural world, if we simply choose to listen.
