In its 2024 manifesto, the incoming Labour Government committed to banning the import of hunting trophies.
A ban on trophy imports carries overwhelming public and cross-party parliamentary support. Trophy import bans have been introduced in some European countries, yet successive UK governments have failed to deliver.
Since they took office in 2024, the current Government has issued at least 33 permits enabling British trophy hunters to bring their trophies home from their hunting trips – including body parts from threatened species such as lions, leopards, elephants and giraffes.
Animal body parts should not be treated as holiday souvenirs.
