How to fundraise for Born Free from home

HOW TO FUNDRAISE FOR BORN FREE FROM HOME

Born Free’s Sarah Locke provides some ideas to get you started.

If there is anything we’ve learnt over the past few months it’s that people are incredible! In the midst of a pandemic we’ve been blessed with individuals like Captain Tom Moore and huge group efforts such as the 2.6 Challenge. So here are a number of ideas to get you started on your own fundraising for Born Free!

Virtual challenge

People have been taking on some amazing challenges from their houses and gardens; those who have rowed the English Channel from a rowing machine or climbed Everest by running up and down the stairs. You could even transform your summer plans like trekking in South America into completing the same distance in one of the UK’s national parks or, even more challenging, from your back garden. Either way you choose to complete a challenge, please remember to observe the government’s guidelines on social distancing.

Host a charity quiz

How many quizzes have you done since you’ve been at home? Why not make this one different, let everyone know you are raising money for charity and explain the causes the money will go to. Asking just £2 from every contestant will make a difference.

Use your daily exercise for good

We know your daily exercise in this time of social distancing is precious and that’s why dedicating it to a cause means so much more. Take some inspiration from Angela and Martin Humphrey, who are both in their 90’s and are walking 2km a day for Born Free and are hoping to raise an incredible £1m!

Virtual Racing UK

Taking on an organised virtual distance challenge with Born Free is easier than ever. You can choose your sport – a cycle, run or walk. Our next Virtual Racing monthly challenge launches in October and will be our Walking for Wolves 5K. Funds from the race will support the endangered Ethiopian wolf; of which there are fewer than 500 left.

Our Owl 20K has already sold out for the month of May and following completion of the full distance, participants will all receive their own owl challenge medal.

We love hearing your fundraising stories so let us know what you are up to and if you need any more advice, help, or would like to download poster materials and sponsorship forms, head to our website.
