- Date: -
- Time: 00:01 - 23:59
- Location: Anywhere in the world!
- Fundraising target: £150
Could you walk or run 23,000 steps in a day, one for each of the 23,000 lions left in the wild?
Raise funds for Born Free on World Lion Day!
On 10th August – World Lion Day – hundreds of people across the UK and abroad will take part in Walk on the Wild Side, raising thousands of pounds of vital funds to protect lions in the wild, and campaign to end their captive exploitation.
We need YOU to Walk on the Wild Side with us, to raise money to ensure that wild lion populations around the world can thrive for years to come.
Whether you’re a fitness fanatic, a couch-to-5k-er, or just want to get outdoors this summer, our challenge is the perfect chance to step up for lions.
So why not lace up your trainers and take on the 23,000-step challenge this summer?
Walk on the Wild Side: Everything you need to know
Walk on the Wild Side is free to take part in, but we do ask that you use the challenge to help raise vital funds for our work to support lions and other wildlife.
Anyone and everyone. Take part as a solo cat, with your family pride or alongside your ferocious friends.
Not available on 10th August? Don’t worry – you can take on the challenge on any day between the 1st and 31st of August, and you can do it anywhere in the world!
If walking 23,000 steps isn’t going to be possible but you still want to support Born Free, you can!
We have lots of ideas for other types of fundraisers you can organise to support Born Free, from bake sales to art evenings:
We’re challenging every Wild Walker to raise a roar–some £150. Once you reach £30, we’ll send your branded T-shirt before the 1st of August to wear on your wander. Raise £150 to receive limited edition branded laces! Feeling inspired to champion wildlife and raise more – reach £230, that’s 1 penny per step, as well as the T-shirt and laces, you’ll be able to claim your Born Free water bottle.
With your help we can rescue more individual lions from lives of misery, campaign to phase out captive big cat exploitation and support our Pride of Meru and Pride of Amboseli Lion Conservation Teams working on the frontline to secure a future for lions.
Register using the link below, and set up your own Enthuse fundraising page. Plan your walk for lions on 10th August and put your best paw forward. Good luck!
