New arrival

NEW ARRIVAL

29 August 2017

Earlier this month our team at Ensessa Kotteh welcomed a new addition. This beautiful male Menelik’s bushbuck was confiscated by the Oromia Forestry and Wildlife Enterprises (OFWE) near the small town of Asela (nearly 190km from our sanctuary).

A man who had kept the bushbuck as a pet for 18 months was arrested, while also in possession of two bushbuck skins, and sentenced to 2 years in prison. This arrest and confiscation was a direct result of training delivered by Born Free Ethiopia’s Border Point Project.

So far he is doing well and under quarantine while we ensure he is fit and healthy and to allow him to acclimatise to his new surroundings. Once issued with a clean bill of health he will be assessed as a possible candidate for release.

Now we need your help, as we have not yet given him a name… email tarnya@bornfree.org.uk
