European Zoos Urged To Phase Out Giraffe In Captivity Following Our New Report

Five years on from the death of Marius the giraffe, zoos are still killing healthy animals, but are not obliged to report it. It is time for transparency, says Born Free’s Head of Animal Welfare & Captivity, Dr Chris Draper.

Two giraffe subspecies have been listed as Critically Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species for the first time.
