Did you celebrate World Ocean Day earlier in June?
🌊  At Born Free, we love wildlife on land AND under the sea!  πŸŒŠ
Here are some weird and wonderful ocean species you might spot off the UK coast...

🦈 Basking Shark

As big as a double decker bus, these sharks are the world’s second largest fish. But, fear not! Basking sharks are gentle giants, devouring microscopic plankton. Each summer they head to UK waters to gorge themselves!

🐬Common Dolphin

Easy to identify, thanks to a pale-yellow stripe. This intelligent, social species usually lives in pods of 10-15 animals, who work together to herd fish into a β€˜bait ball’. These pods can come together to form β€˜super pods’ with thousands of dolphins!

Atlantic Puffin

These small birds are easily recognisable, with black and white feathers and a large, colourful bill. Every summer, pairs of puffins return from the open ocean to the UK coast to nest in burrows.

❓ DID YOU KNOW? A baby puffin is called a puffling!  β“

Our latest issue of Hear the Roar magazine is marine-themed. Read here to find out more about turtles, orca and even plankton.
