Almost 2,000 people attended the first Vegan Fest in Horsham, West Sussex, held in aid of Born Free and Animals Asia on Saturday 23rd February 2019.

With a host of vegan stalls selling everything from food to cosmetics and clothing, there was plenty to try! Born Free ambassador, Actor Dan Richardson, was one of a number of inspirational speakers to give talks during the day – he spoke to a packed audience about his journey to veganism and work with Born Free during the relocation of King, the lion cub to our big cat rescue centre in South Africa.

The Born Free stall was busy all day, with supporters old and new keen to meet the team and find out more about our conservation and animal protection work. Born Free’s Captivity Campaigns Manager, Ellie Henderson, was assisted by her young son Max and niece Rosie to run the stall in the morning, with other Born Free team members taking over in the afternoon.

Born Free’s Events and Fundraising Manager, Joanne Bartholomew, said: “We were absolutely bowled over by the number of people who came and supported this event! We thoroughly enjoyed meeting local supporters in Born Free’s home town and chatting to them about ways they can support our work – it was a fantastic day and we are so grateful to organiser Helen Crabb for choosing Born Free as one of the charity beneficiaries.”
