Internationally acclaimed artist Hannah Shergold has raised an incredible £40,000 for Born Free through the sale of her wildlife paintings.
Ex-Army helicopter pilot turned artist Hannah, who was Wild Card winner for Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2019, welcomed guests to a special exhibition and private view at La Galleria, London, in June.
The WILD Collection exhibition featured beautiful original paintings of African wildlife including cheetah, elephants, lions and wolves, as well as UK wildlife such as mountain hares and grouse.
The exhibition opened with a private view on Tuesday 18th June. Over 100 VIP guests including Virginia McKenna OBE, Born Free Co-Founder Trustee and Dan Richardson, actor and Born Free Patron, were invited to the gallery, where two paintings were auctioned live – Elephant Embrace and Chimpanzee Gaze – raising a combined £20,500 for Born Free!
A number of Hannah’s other paintings were subsequently sold on the night, with a further 20% of proceeds from the whole collection benefitting the charity.
The WILD Collection remained open to the public until 29th June, and almost all of the artworks were sold during that time, raising a grand total of over £40,000 for Born Free.
