PHNOM TAMAO WILDLIFE RESCUE CENTRE

CAMBODIA

The Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre, in Cambodia, cares for and rehabilitates animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade.

Run by Wildlife Alliance – a leading organisation in the direct protection of forests and wildlife in tropical Asia – the centre is home to more than 1,200 animals. The animals have been rescued from the illegal wildlife trade and are rehabilitated and released, or given lifetime care if they are unable to be returned to the wild.

Born Free supports Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre through Jasper the tiger who lives in a large forested enclosure at the centre. He was rescued in 1998 from poachers who stole him as a newborn cub.
