Following the success of the first two Paws Animal Writing Competitions, Paws n Claws are delighted to announce that the competition is open once again for submissions!
Like before, the competition is open to children aged 9 -16 (UK school years 5 - 11) and they are looking for stories about wild animals between 500 and 1500 words long. The stories must be about what it is to be wild. The winners and runners-up in the three categories (Years 5 and 6, 7 and 8 and 9 –11) will be published in the next Wild 'n Free book in November 2014 to raise funds and awareness for the Born Free Foundation.
Judges this year are authors, Sally Spedding and Kate Tenbeth, as well as TV presenter, Michaela Strachan (BBC Springwatch).
The competition is open from September 16th 2013 to January 31st 2014.
Those children who submit stories will also be asked to send in animal drawings for the book.
Stories and drawings that don’t make it into the book will be published on Paws n Claws’ dedicated blog. Some of last year’s entries will be appearing on there very soon as they lead up to the launch of Wild 'n Free Too this November.
