Born Free Foundation - Keep Wildlife in the Wild

PatrickGeorge Ltd

Independent children’s picture book publishers, PatrickGeorge, are teaming up with Born Free on their latest book ‘Animal Rescue’ with 50p from the sale of each copy going to support our wildlife rescue and conservation work around the world.

The book invites each child to become an animal rescue hero. There are eleven spreads portraying animals in need and an acetate sheet between each double page spread which, when flipped from right to left, serves to rescue the animal in need off the page and place it back into its natural environment. So a tiger rug on the right hand page becomes a tiger leaping from a tree on the left and a bear in a solitary cage can be flipped over to be reunited with its young in the wild.

‘Animal Rescue’ is a book without words, leaving the pictures and the reader’s imagination to do the talking. Patrick and his wife Ann (who edits and publishes the books) believe they have struck the right balance between being friendly, playful and thought-provoking. For them, the challenge was to create a fun, interactive book for young children, with a strong, topical message.

“We can only imagine what it is like to be a tiger, an elephant, a crocodile or a turtle. But we can understand why we need to rescue wild animals in need and protect them. That is what makes us human. This book should be the start of every child’s journey towards a more compassionate future.” Will Travers OBE, President of the Born Free Foundation
