For the first time ever, 19 year old Leda, and her two 11 year old daughters, Roxanne and Rhea, felt fresh grass beneath their paws. The inadequate, barren, concrete floored cage they had been held captive in for years was finally a thing of the past, as they embarked on a new life, back where they truly belong – in the wild.

The Anti Poaching Unit sponsored by elephant.co.uk since 2003, continues to be very active and essential for the protection of wild animals in the area. With elephant.co.uk’s help, Born Free has joined together with Tusk Trust and purchased a land Rover for the Painted Dog Conservation Project. Thousands of wire snares have been removed, and hundreds of lives saved.
The new kitchen at the ETH which will be used to prepare milk for the orphan elephants, has been completed. This will make the storage and preparation easier for the staff and much more hygienic. The kitchen is an invaluable, long needed requirement for the welfare of the orphaned elephant babies at ETH. Find out more about the Elephant Transit Home.
