Martin is an English actor who famously starred as ‘Gary’ in the BBC’s hugely successful sitcom Men Behaving Badly, broadcast from 1992 to 1998.  He is also an established dramatic actor, starring in films and television shows such as An Evening With Gary Lineker, Staggered, Hunting Venus, William and Mary, The Booze Cruise, Saving Grace, and Jeeves and Wooster.

It was whilst filming Staggered that Martin met Virginia McKenna and rekindled his love of the film, Born Free which he remembered watching as a child. His love of wildlife led him to become a Patron for the Born Free Foundation and to even auction off his most beloved camper van for the benefit of the animals at a Born Free fundraising Ball!

Martin travelled to Tanzania in 1997 with Born Free to release a captive elephant called Nina back to the wild for the major BBC programme, Born to be Wild, and from that wonderful experience has gone on to offer his support on a range of campaigns and rescues.  In 2007, Martin kindly agreed to be the Master of Ceremonies at our Summer Ball.  “I like to do whatever I can for Born Free whenever I am asked”.
