Joanna, Born Free’s Founder Patron, was born in Srinagar, India and is a British actress and former model. Joanna’s acting career began with her playing the role of a Bond girl in On Her Majesty's Secret Service (1969). Her first major role, however, was as Purdey in TV’s The New Avengers, a revival of the secret agent series The Avengers.

Joanna went on to find fame with a new generation for her portrayal of the neurotic, sexpot fashion design editor, Patsy Stone, on the British comedy television show Absolutely Fabulous (1992-2004).

Absolutely fabulous Joanna, has been with Born Free from the beginning and 23 years on remains its most loyal supporter. Joanna has worked on a number of campaigns, notably with Land Rover who support Born Free as their Conservation Charity and most memorably in the BBC programme, Born to be Wild where Joanna helped Born Free relocate endangered Rothschild giraffes to protected land in Kenya.  “The natural world is ever shrinking… Born Free’s work to keep wildlife in the wild means everything to me”.
