Brian May & Kerry Ellis meet Roary at Wildlife Rocks

On a sunny Saturday 1st September 2012, Guildford Cathedral played host to charity event, Wildlife Rocks. The event, hosted by Brian May’s wildlife charity Save Me, was highly attended by the public, who had the opportunity to visit a number of animal, wildlife and environmental charities from the RSPB to renowned wildlife artist David Shepherd.

Born Free had a huge presence at the event, with the eye-catching Born Free marquee offering merchandise and a free prize draw to win a plush cuddly lion or gorilla toy to all new Born Free supporters. Born Free are very pleased to announce that the winners of the prize draw are Marie Brabazon who gets our gorgeous cuddly gorilla and Orla Ralph who won our WildcreW competition and gets our cute cuddly lion.

Born Free patron and rock legend Brian May played an intimate gig inside the Cathedral, alongside theatre star Kerry Ellis, performing an acoustic version of the classic song, Born Free. Born Free’s CEO, Will Travers OBE, was amongst the many speakers inside the Cathedral and delivered an inspirational and highly attended talk, informing event goers of the importance of raising awareness and support for animal welfare and conservation.

Outside, the Cathedral grounds were full of excited visitors of all ages, with many excited kids keen to learn more about wildlife whist hanging out with Born Free’s WildcreW mascot Roary the lion cub.

All in all the day was a huge success for all the charities involved, so thank you to all who attended and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
