Born Free partners ProFauna Indonesia have just released a report on the activities of their Bali Office over the first half of 2012. This office - whose operation is fully funded by Born Free and Humane Society International Australia - is the hub of their national turtle protection campaign, as well as being responsible for other wildlife conservation and welfare issues on the island.

The trade in turtle products is a big concern on Bali, and ProFauna have been addressing this through a concerted campaign of investigation, report publication, public demonstration and collaboration with the authorities. They have also been looking into the situation on major nesting beaches and have identified key sites where they can assist ongoing field conservation efforts.

Further activities include educational initiatives, surveys of live animal markets and assisting enforcement authorities in the identification of protected species. They have certainly been busy, and we are proud to be enabling all this valuable work. Read more in the full report here.
