Born Free Foundation - Keep Wildlife in the Wild

Volunteering in the UK

Born Free’s head office

We welcome volunteers to help us with our administrative work. We currently have a team of around 25 volunteers aged from 16 to 80! Some vollies work two hours a week, others two days per week, coming in when their jobs and family commitments allow. Help is needed with sending out appeal letters, press cuttings, merchandise, sending collection boxes, membership packs and many other tasks.

To get involved please contact margaret@bornfree.org.uk - Margaret at the Horsham office (+44 (0)1403 240170).

Born Free’s Activate

Activate Logo

Activate is Born Free’s team of letter-writers who take action on a variety of animal issues.  Every two months, Activators receive details about a new challenge and write personal letters to relevant decision-makers.  Activate really gets results!  Details including recent campaign successes and a free starter pack can be found here, or contact our office on 01403 240170 or info@bornfree.org.uk

Born Free’s Zoo Check: Travellers Animal Alert

Travellers Animal Alert

Throughout the world, millions of wild animals are exploited in zoos, circuses, dolphinaria and for tourists’ photos.  Born Free’s Zoo Check team is taking action to tackle this global problem but we need your help.  If you see captive animal suffering on holiday or at home, please contact our office on 01403 240170 or zoocheck@bornfree.org.uk or visit the Travellers' Animal Alert section

Born Free’s Zoo Check: Zoo Checkers

If you want to help alleviate the suffering of animals in captivity and become an official Zoo Checker and receive further information about our campaign, your details added onto our ‘active member’ database and your own Zoo Checker Action Pack, please call Zoocheck on 01403 240170 or email zoocheck@bornfree.org.uk for more information.

Born Free’s Zoo Check: general support

The Zoo Check department is always keen to have diligent and organised volunteers. We have a large amount of printed material, video tapes etc that requires cataloguing and filing to ensure the smooth running of the small team, enabling us to concentrate on issues affecting wild animals in captivity. Some computer skills would be an asset. If you are methodical, conscientious and realise the value of administrative work to the department, we would love to hear from you.  Contact zoocheck@bornfree.org.uk or 01403 240170.
