The Brighton Marathon took place on Sunday 10th April 2011 - Born Free would like to thank everyone who took part on our behalf. If you have a place and would like to run in aid of Born Free team next year please contact joanne@bornfree.org.uk

It proved to be a great success - although the heat made it even harder for the runners. The well organised event was attended by enthusastic crowds and there was official (and unofficial) entertainment in plentiful supply.
Many thanks to James young, Rebecca Constantinou, Caroline Collard, Andrew Leeves, Lee-Ann Denny, Steve Warren, Jessica D’aulerio, Liz White and their sponsors.
Liz (pic right) sent us this regarding her experience:
"Just done two miles this morning to loosen up – really needed to. Yesterday was the hardest race if ever taken part in purely because of the heat – it was 23c in Brighton – far too hot really but then you never know in this country. Thousands backed out and quite a few failed to finish either. I passed loads of casualties after mile 11 and it was a bit off putting to say the least. I slowed up some after mile 18 as it was so hot. A man came out of his garden with a hosepipe and I just got doused in water – I could have kissed him!!!!! Anyway I still managed to beat my personal best by 20 mins with a finish time at 4hrs 50 mins – heaven knows how!!!
Thank goodness for St Ambulance and the paramedics, I just hope all those taken away were OK. Some were passing out with only a couple of miles to go – gutting!!!!! Anyway I was very glad I did it and will definitely do another one."
