Born Free Foundation - Keep Wildlife in the Wild

Remembering Elephants at the Royal Geographical Society

Margot Raggett had an idea of asking 65 of the world’s best wildlife photographers to contribute an elephant image each for a fundraising book.

The Remembering Elephants event at the RGS was a key event to launch the book and Thursday evening saw over 300 people attend a presentation of all the images, plus talks by conservationist Ian Redmond OBE and wildlife photographer Art Wolfe.  The evening was Introduced by Virginia McKenna and Born Free patrons and supporters turned out to give their support.  Many of the photographers who have been so generous to this project were amongst the guests.

An auction at the end of some of the images from the exhibition including a very special painting by wildlife artist Craig Roberts, was conducted by the amazing James Lewis.

There is still time to visit the exhibition at La Galleria Pall Mall and buy a Remembering Elephants book.  All the proceeds will go to Born Free to fight poaching to ensure the survival of this magnificent species.

The breath taking photographic book and exhibition opened with a special private view where guests could meet the photographers who generously donated their pictures in aid of Born Free’s elephant conservation.

Amongst them were George Logan, Alwyn Coates, Art wolfe, and the amazing Margot Raggett who first approached Born Free with the idea for this project 2 years ago.

Virginia McKenna and Will Travers joined Born Free patrons including Mollie King, Vic Reeves and Nancy Sorrell plus many other supporters to fill La Galleria and enjoy a glass of wine whilst taking in the wonderful photographs.

The ‘Remembering Elephants’ book is on sale at La Galleria and although several of the photographers have been sold already there is still time to view them as the exhibition runs until 1st October 2016. Opening times: 10 am – 5 pm.
