Rally for Conservation for Born Free and Shamwari – the final leg!

Rally for conservation

Further to the huge success of the auction which raised £40,000 at St John’s School, the Rally for Conservation began on the 9th September after breakfast with a scenic drive through the Surrey Hills taking in a tour of the McLaren Technology Centre in Working.  The day concluded with an after rally BBQ.

Thank you to Jeff Olsen and Max Simpson for their inspiration idea to raise funds to support the work of Born Free and Shamwari after visiting last year and seeing for themselves the work that is undertaken.

Rally for Conservation!

Two amazing young people, Max Simpson and Jeff Olsen,  were inspired to fundraise for our animals at Shamwari having volunteered at the sanctuaries.  In particular they wanted to support the care of recently rehomed lions, Ciam and Nelson plus the conservation work.

Their idea was a car auction and rally and they recruited the help of their parents and their cars!

Guests were able to view the magnificent line up of cars on offer which included a Ferrari 246 Dino, Lamborghini Huracan Spyder and an E Type Jaguar 1.5 to name just a few.  Other prizes included 2 Land Rover off road days and tickets to go to the F1 Grand Prix in the UK.

The auction took place on April  22nd at St John’s School Leatherhead and raised a staggering £40,000.
