Born Free’s rescue and rehabilitation of needy wild animals recently featured in a summer art exhibition, held at Nantwich Museum. Organised by the RSPCA’s Stapeley Grange Rescue Centre, “Animal Art Adventure” invited several internationally acclaimed wildlife artists to exhibit their work and raise awareness – and much needed funds – for their favourite conservation and animal welfare charities.
Born Free’s work was championed by our very own Senior Programmes Officer, Chris Wright, whose drawings depict some of the animals we’ve rescued and now care for (such as Roque the tiger and Menelik the cheetah cub), and who closed the exhibition with a drawing demo and illustrated public talk on what Born Free is doing to help stem the tiger’s demise.
Afterwards, one audience member commented, “we were shocked by the enormity of the captive tiger situation in the US and China. Chris gave us considerable food for thought about how, as tourists, we should be more aware of what we are offered and shown and to make a much more informed decision on what we participate in, where wild animals might be affected or exploited.”
