Go Wild Golf Day 2017

Born Free’s fifth annual ‘Go Wild’ Golf Day returned to the picturesque Gatton Manor Golf Club on Wednesday 27th September, with teams from around Sussex and Surrey tee-ing off to support the Beyond the bars campaign.

Once again, the popular event’s main sponsor was Tamron, with generous support from Bartholomew Estate Agents and The Printed Word. (Click here for photos from the day)

After a misty start, the  teams explored the challenging 18-hole course, with the sun eventually breaking through for their arrival back at the club house. They enjoyed a well-deserved buffet lunch, before Born Free’s CEO Howard Jones thanked the players and sponsors, and explained more about the how money raised by ‘Beyond the Bars’ will help keep wildlife in the wild.

Prizes were then presented to team OAT (Olsen Animal Trust) who won the team shield, to Tamron for ‘closest to the pin’, and to Born Free’s own Matt Smithers who won the ‘longest drive, and took  home the coveted ‘Pride’ jacket for the overall player.

Born Free’s events manager, Joanne Bartholomew, said: “It was a really great day, and I would like to thank everyone of the players and sponsors for their generous support. The money raised – which we hope will exceed £3,000 – will go directly to support animals in need.”
