Born Free Foundation - Keep Wildlife in the Wild

Gary Hodges charity auction raises a staggering £133k for wildlife!

A sensational sell-out private view of Heart & Soul and a star-studded auction of work by highly sought-after wildlife artist Gary Hodges has raised a record £133,000 for the work of the Born Free Foundation and Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA).

A 600-strong crowd gathered at the prestigious Mall Galleries, on Monday, April 18th. Wildlife enthusiasts and avid Gary Hodges collectors stood cheek-by-jowl with celebrity patrons including legendary actress and Born Free founder Virginia McKenna OBE, Rula Lenska, Jilly Goolden, Anneka Rice and Tony Mortimer. The crowd was also delighted with the surprise attendance of HRH Prince Michael of Kent, himself a keen wildlife ambassador and enthusiast.

Fast and furious bids were taken by TV auctioneer James Lewis for both limited edition prints and original pieces by the celebrated wildlife artist, ranging from £5,000-£30,000 per lot.

Gary Hodges said: “This has been a spectacular evening and I am touched and moved by the support and generosity of the people who collect and appreciate my work. I dedicated this exhibition to help combat the terrible things that are happening to elephants in the wild and tonight we made a strong statement in support of wildlife.”
