Born Free 50th Anniversary Royal Screening in Monaco

Born Free marks 50 years since Royal premiere, with a special screening in Monaco

Virginia McKenna was joined by guest of honour H.S.H Prince Albert II of Monaco, for a glittering anniversary screening of Born Free, held at the Théâtre Princesse Grace in Monte Carlo, on 27th April.

Special guests at the select soiree included long-standing Born Free patrons Amanda Holden and Nick Knowles, who were honoured to fly out and watch the iconic film in the company of His Serene Highness and its leading lady.

Classical violinist and Britain’s Got Talent star, Lettice Rowbotham gave a beautiful rendition of the Oscar-winning Born Free film score, before the opening credits rolled. Following the film, Virginia McKenna gave a moving address to the audience about Born Free’s impact, not only on her life, but on the lives of the many animals helped over the years.

The evening concluded with an exclusive reception, held on the stage at the theatre, with the Prince able to meet the assembled guests, and speak about Born Free’s important conservation work. Those present were also treated to an exclusive live painting session by acclaimed impressionist painter and Born Free supporter, Sherree Valentine Daines, who wowed the audience with a stunning oil painting of a leopard, which took just 40 minutes to complete. Money raised through the event will go towards the Ethiopia Vet Centre.
