Downlands Community School

Students from Downlands Community School in Hassocks, West Sussex, have presented the Born Free Foundation with a cheque for £1,500 towards its work to improve the lives of wild animals in captivity in Europe. Presented to Born Free Foundation co-founder and trustee, Virginia McKenna OBE and Senior Operations Officer, Daniel Turner, the money was raised following the school’s awareness-raising campaign about The EU Zoo Inquiry 2011 and recent trip to meet policymakers and Members of the European Parliament in Brussels. Virginia McKenna commented, “the students of Downlands Community School are truly inspiring."
