Born Free Foundation - Keep Wildlife in the Wild

Remembering Rhinos

The much-anticipated launch of Remembering Rhinos has taken place in London, with two high profile events raising an incredible £115k for Born Free’s vital rhino conservation to date.

Remembering Rhinos’ founder, Margot Raggett unveiled the stunning rhino images, taken by some of the world’s top wildlife photographers, at a VIP private view at La Galleria, Pall Mall, on the 31st of October, with books and one-off images from the project available to buy.

Celebrities including Born Free patrons Helen Worth, Mark Austin, Rula Lenska, Dan Richardson and renowned wildlife artist Gary Hodges, admired the striking imagery alongside photographers, VIP guests and representatives from the Born Free Foundation, including President Will Travers OBE.

The following evening, over five hundred guests attended a special evening at the Royal Geographical Society, which included talks by Saving the Survivors founder, vet and photographer Johan Marais and former wildlife photographer of the year, Steve Winter.  The evening culminated with a charity auction hosted by TV’s James Lewis, and book signing by the Remembering Rhinos photographers, many of whom had flown in from around the world to attend.

Remembering Rhinos founder, Margot Raggett, who compered the evening, said:

“I have been completely overwhelmed by the support we’ve had for Remembering Rhinos. I thought last year’s launch of Remembering Elephants was amazing but we’ve surpassed that this year by every measure. I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us in some way but especially to The Born Free Foundation. It is an honour to partner with them to fight for rhinos.”

The Remembering Rhinos exhibition at La Galleria is free of charge and open to the public 10am-5pm until the 11th of November.

Copies of the book are available to purchase from the gallery, and also online at: https://rememberingwildlife.com/remembering-rhinos/

More About the Book

The follow up to Remembering Elephants, this book (144 pages) is currently in design with a publication date of 30th October 2017, with the same production team in place. Once again, 65 of the world’s best wildlife photographers have donated images to the book, which will cover all living species of rhino across Africa and Asia, with a foreword by Zoologist and Environmentalist Mark Carwardine. There will be 4000 copies of this first edition, which like last time, are expected to become a collectors’ item in years to come.

The cost of printing has been covered by a Kickstarter campaign meaning 100% of the cover price goes to projects protecting rhinos in Africa and Asia via our partner The Born Free Foundation.
