This challenge is a unique opportunity to test your personal endurance, while experiencing a true African adventure, and also fulfilling the ultimate goal of raising money and awareness for the Born Free Foundation.

The challenge spans over 10 days and will see you on a trail through the world famous Shamwari Game Reserve. The total trail will cover around 60 km, beginning from the northern section and continuing on a round trip via the 2 Born Free Foundation big cat sanctuaries based on the reserve. A day will be spent at each sanctuary experiencing the pioneering work before heading
back through the reserve on the return leg of the challenge.

During your Born Free ‘Walking Wild’ challenge you can expect to learn and experience the following:
• Born Free Foundation: A guided visit to the world-renowned ‘Big Cat’ sanctuaries.
• Track/Spoor Identification and Skills: Learn to identify almost all the signs that nature leaves.
• Stargazing/Astronomy: Weather permitting, one can view and enjoy the beautiful Southern Skies and learn how to navigate at night
• Botany/ Vegetation impacts: Many scientifically confirmed medicinal values exist in the diverse vegetation on Shamwari Game Reserve
• Field guiding and Conservation Ethical game ranging, viewing and guiding is important for safety and minimum stress for both man and animal.
