Born Free Foundation - Keep Wildlife in the Wild

Activate Successes

Sometimes the problems facing animals can seem over-whelming.  But don’t despair, write a letter instead!  The pen wields real power, as Tricia Holford explains.

“I was writing a summary of all the campaigns Activators had thrown their weight behind over the last three years, and was heartened to note how many had been a success.  The power of the pen can be mighty indeed!

Activate is Born Free’s letter-writing campaign.  Every other month I send out details of one or two issues which would benefit from the action of our dedicated team.  I then report back on the outcome.

The number of Activators is relatively small, but I think it is the fact we write personal letters and emails which make our efforts so effective.  Pre-written postcards and standard letters can be valuable campaigning tools, but letters written from the heart in your own words have a powerful impact.

The scale of suffering inflicted on animals every minute of every day can make you feel helpless and overwhelmed.  However, the horrific statistics are made up of individual animals each with their own pleasures and fears.  Helping even just a few of those individuals IS worthwhile and the knock-on effect can help many, many more and stop some of the exploitation before it begins.  So come and join our gang… get Active for the animals!”
