Born Free Foundation - Keep Wildlife in the Wild

Free the Orca

THANK YOU!

Born Free marked World Orca Day on July 14, when digital poster sites in shopping centres nationwide turned into virtual orca tanks. Visitors in London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow were invited to donate £5 which  ‘freed’ a life-size animated orca from captivity, which then ‘swam to freedom’ in the ocean.

Thank you everyone who has kindly donated. You’re supporting our work to end captive orca exploitation and protect orca in the wild, where they belong. To donate £5 text ‘ORCA1’ to 70755.

Orca in captivity

“There are currently 62 orcas in the world forced to live in cramped conditions and perform unnatural tricks at marine parks," explained our Founder Virginia McKenna OBE. But in the wild orca can dive 200m and swim 100 miles a day. Imagine how these large, highly intelligent animals suffer in captivity. Orca belong in the wild with their families!

YOU can help:

  1. Pledge never to visit a dolphinarium

  2. Adopt a wild orca

The Born Free Foundation is an international wildlife charity and we’re wild about animals! We take action worldwide to save orcas as well as lions, elephants, gorillas, tigers and lots more. Born Free believes wild animals belong in the wild. We’d love you to get into wildlife and go wild!

Our thanks to creative agency WCRS, The Mill for creating the 3d orca and Ocean Outdoor, for donating the poster sites.
