Meet our latest rescued animal.  Koti is a young female baboon who was discovered tied to a fence in Kotebe in the eastern suburbs of Addis Ababa. Born Free’s partners at the Ethiopian Wildlife Conservation Authority (EWCA) had found her all alone.  They immediately called Stephen Brend, our Project Director in Ethiopia and ‘Koti’ was then soon on her way to our office in Addis.  Stephen will care for her here initially while her health is assessed; though thankfully she seems well at the moment.  Koti will then in time be moved up to our sanctuary on the outskirts of the city where we will work to introduce her to the other rescued baboons with a view to full rehabilitation and release back to the wild.  Unfortunately EWCA was not able to trace any signs of an ‘owner’ so could not proceed with any prosecution.
