The initiative, developed with Oxford University’s Wildlife Conservation Research Unit, works to resolve conflict between wildlife and local people.
People & Wildlife is led by Dr Claudio Sillero, Born Free’s Head of Conservation, WildCRU’s Bill Travers Fellow and winner of the Whitley Award for Conservation. The project’s primary research phase was completed in 2002, culminating with a conference at Oxford in December 2002. The next stage saw the development of a major website as a resource base, offering field advice for wildlife managers worldwide, launched in 2004. Today the project provides a successful communication forum for human-wildlife conflict issues and innovative solutions, visit www.peopleandwildlife.org.uk
