This month we had 11 groups from four different schools visit us to learn more about our work and the huge diversity of life within Shamwari. The first school was Woodridge College from Port Elizabeth. They bring their Eco-Club to us every year, as ever they had a lot of fun and enjoyed every bit of it. It was a good day as they saw a lot of different species while on the game drive.

The next group was Sapphire Primary School, also from Port Elizabeth. They too are regular visitors, visiting the centre with their learners every year. The school is from a disadvantaged community in the northern area of the city so it is a great opportunity for them to visit us. They were a lovely bunch of learners who were keen for information and hungry to understand what we do - so they were asking lots of questions!

The next school was St Andrews College and Diocesan School for Girls from Grahamstown. They brought seven grade 9 groups to us. They also visit us every year with more than two groups. They enjoyed themselves immensely.

Finally we welcomed Paul Sauer High school from Kareedow. They were very lucky to see lions in the wild and it was a first time sighting for one of the teachers as well. An experience they will certainly never forget.

Finally, we wanted to share this picture sent to Thembela and me from the nine year old children from Victoria Girls School Grade 4’s.  They visited us last month and sent in the drawing as a ‘thank you’.  On the lion’s mane there were messages of what they had learnt on their visit with us.  It was fun and rewarding to receive.
