ProFauna is a non-governmental organisation working for the protection of wild animals and their habitat in Indonesia, focussing on forests, primates, parrots, sea turtles and the illegal trade in wildlife.

Established in East Java in 1994, ProFauna has offices in Jakarta and Bali, and with more than half a million supporters throughout the country is the largest grassroots organisation for wildlife protection in Indonesia.  Its large active membership makes a significant contribution to voluntary activities, so that despite limited staff ProFauna manages to achieve a great deal more than would otherwise be possible.

Born Free is proud to have been funding the Bali Office of ProFauna since 2006, supporting vital activities such as the protection of nesting sea turtles, rescue and release, seizures of wildlife and their products, illegal wildlife trade investigations and improving the government’s law enforcement response.
