Born Free Foundation - Keep Wildlife in the Wild

Satpuda Landscape Tiger Programme 2010

Born Free’s support for our tiger conservation partners in Central India continues in this, the Year of the Tiger, through the Satpuda Landscape Tiger Programme.

Born Free representatives recently visited the region, attending the annual seminar to meet with SLTP Partners and discuss the last year’s achievements, emerging issues, and future plans.

From there, Senior Programmes Officer, Chris Wright, visited some of the villages surrounding Pench Tiger Reserve where the SLTP is implementing a range of community conservation activities. These include raising awareness of the need for people to protect their environment, developing alternative forms of energy and livelihood to reduce their impacts on tiger habitat, and supporting the authorities’ protection of the Tiger Reserve.

To read more about these – and many other – activities supported through the SLTP network, the 2009/10 Annual Report can be downloaded as a pdf here.
