RESCUE SANCTUARY, CHINA
News from Dave Neal of Animals Asia of Ginny, the moonbear rescued from a bile farm in China.
Our beautiful Ginny has been spending glorious afternoons playing peekaboo with her companion Aussie (pictured right), here at the Moon Bear Rescue Sanctuary in Chengdu. Ginny has never looked happier and, thanks to the generosity of Born Free and supporters, we have been able to give her a future without fear.
Joining over 200 bears rescued from China's notoriously cruel bear bile farms, Ginny is helping Animals Asia show this cruel practice violates every principle of welfare and compassion. Our media and education programmes are delivering the message that the country's majestic Moon Bears are dying in agony for a product so unnecessary in Chinese medicine today. The new Head of Sichuan
Forestry Protection Department promises to close more farms and confiscate the caged and sick bears into our care.
Now, in the months before the ‘Green’ Olympic Games in Beijing in August 2008 we also hope the Central Government will acknowledge the suffering of over 7,000 endangered victims and join Animals Asia in a truly committed year of freedom for the bears. The faith and help of Born Free and supporters across the globe is pivotal in our journey to bring this industry to an end.
