Born Free takes action in Cameroon and Democratic Republic of Congo to protect the Western and Eastern gorilla. The IUCN¹ Red List, which lists all rare species of animals, classes the Eastern Lowland gorilla as ‘endangered’. This means the species ‘faces a very high risk of extinction in the wild in the near future’.
