Save Amboseli - update 11th November
Dear Friends,
Although it is only a couple of days since the last update,
some matters have been moving with alarming speed.
The latest on the Thai/Kenya Zoo Deal is that the two governments
are pressing ahead despite widespread criticism. The matter
is now likely to be raised in the Kenyan Parliament. One rumour
I'd like to dispel is that these animals are being 'rescued
to prevent them being culled' (a new reason for the move, as
articulated by the Prime Minister of Thailand!). This really
is rubbish and whoever thought it up as an excuse should be
ashamed.
However, perhaps more important to the nearly 10,000 people
who have signed onto this site and the many others who visited
is the fact that a new Kenya Government website has been established
www.communication.go.ke
which not only sets out some of the terms of the zoo deal but
also gives readers an opportunity to send a message to the Government
of Kenya. Use the yellow box on the right hand side of the front
page marked 'click here to talk to us' if you would like them
to know your thoughts.
