Save Amboseli - update 28th October
Dear Friends of Amboseli
The latest news is that a group of local Kenyan
conservation and tourism organisations (Eastern Africa Environmental
Network, Nature Kenya and Kenya Tourism Federation) have successfully
applied for and been granted a Court Injunction stopping the
County Council and the Government of Kenya from acting on
Legal Notice 120 until the case is determined by the High
Court.
The next hearing is set for 15th November and
we shall see what happens after that!
Emails are still pouring in to http://www.saveamboseli.net
and I intend reading the next batch of 600 emails over the
weekend and will post on the site a selection in the comments
section just as soon as I can.
Worryingly, in a Daily Nation report dated
22nd October, the President restates the intention of the
Government to degazette the Park despite the protests.
The validity of this assertion will, of course, now be tested
in the court
