Save Amboseli

Dear Friends

Colleagues in Kenya report that the Amboseli High Court hearing has been adjourned until 15th November.

I am trying to find out what the background to the decision is but it does seem that there is more time to encourage the government to reconsider its position on this issue and to look closely at the implications which I have reported on this site in previous updates.

I have continued to try and assess the mood of those writing to the site and can confirm that approximately 99% of the emails I have read are opposed to the degazetting. Of the remaining 1%, a few contain constructive comments supporting the degazetting but, in essence, highlighting the need, whatever happens, to address the challenges facing communities living around National Parks. A very small number contain the kind of verbal and racist abuse which should play no part in a mature discussion on such an important issue.

I will be posting to the site as soon as there is any more information so please do not hesitate to check on a regular basis.

Thanks for your support and spread the word.
