Born Free Kenya

Ready for action, one of BF Kenya's Land Rovers, plus our elephant relocation truck.

As Alice Owen, Manager of Born Free Kenya, explains there are many aspects to Born Free’s work in Kenya:

"Our small team of seven works from an office in Nairobi. Wildlife protection is crucial and we support the removal of animal snares through partner organisations such as the Bill Woodley Mount Kenya Trust and Youth for Conservation. For this work the fleet of vehicles generously donated by Land Rover is invaluable.

On policy and lobbying, we are involved in campaigns for better conservation of wildlife, for example fighting the illegal downgrading of Amboseli National Park to a ‘National Reserve’. Plus we have successfully lobbied against a deal to export 175 wild animals to Chiang Mai Night Safari in Thailand. We also sit on a government Steering Committee reviewing the country’s Wildlife Conservation and Management Policy.
